Charles Napier: I’ll always remember him best as Tucker McElroy in The Blues Brothers.

phoning-it-in:

I’ve got to come in and tell a bunch of kids that a dick is on the loose, and it’s Ron Jeremy’s dick, and it’s nine and a half inches long, and it’s a killer dick. Now I’ve got to do the whole fuckin’ speech and make that believable, that is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. And I think I did it.

Charles Napier was the epitome of the working character actor, showing up everywhere, big and small movies, excellent and terrible ones. A member of both Russ Meyer and Jonathan Demme’s repertory companies, it seems like dude was everywhere. I’ll miss seeing him pop up in movies in the years to come. May he rest in peace.

To read some more about him (including the above quote), check out this great Random Roles interview Nathan Rabin did with him over at The AV Club
